CONTEST ENTRY: Dante and Kimra

FINALLY...

This is probably the most time I've ever poured into one piece. I finished up the last of the shading and the snowflakes in an hour tonight...and here it is. My entry for Sirias's contest. I am so hyperly crazily excited.

Here we see Dante and Kimra, my anthro foxes, out for a romantic walk in the snow. This is my first time ever doing a background. I know, it's kinda vague, but I meant for that to reflect how absorbed the characters are in one another. The rest of the world doesn't matter to them.

I spent maybe 15-20 hours on this in the past few days. The hardest part was the shading. At first I did cellshading, but then I remembered this cool style of sort of fur-like messy shading I saw somewhere. I love the style--I don't care what anyone else thinks, I just love it. So I applied that style to the colored layers. (If you really hate my weird shading, I'll also be posting a more normal Cell-shaded version.) Took maybe 10 hours to do all the shading. I might be exaggerating...but man, it really did take a long time *_*

Sketched in pencil, inked with Sakura Microns, scanned, changed to path-style lineart in Photoshop, colored in Photoshop. Total time: 15-20 hours.
